i’m very new to this, and this trying to choose which online pr to go with for our first (and hopefully continuing) campaign, and was wondering if you had any info/feedback on the service called webwire

Well, Adan, the short answer is “not much,” but since I’m a compulsive researcher, I had to change my answer to “Let me find out.” Thanks to Adan’s comment, I discovered two three new sites: WebWire, statsaholic [a new fave that lets you compare three sites at once] and quantcast, a super-rich site stats resource.

Take a look at this video I found on how PR Web compares to Web Wire releases on Bill McRea’s Internet marketing blog. Web Wire is a low-cost, quick fix. I agree with Bill about PRWeb’s status as an authority site. When you use PRWeb, you not only get more reads [click on the graph to compare daily uniques], but you get more search engine power - in terms of page rank lift.

barbara, i’m glad you were able to find out some good info re webwire; i probably should’ve wrote back sooner after you posted, but wanted to decided which direction or service to go with first, and have now posted my first two releases through webwire

one thing a little different re the pr’s posted on my own site, is i also, as i try to with all my creative work on my site, post what i call artist commentary

in this case i try to say a little about the why or how of the post itself

i haven’t really commented in my commentaries about results yet, but have had quite a # of “reads” as per the stats on webwire, plus a dozen or so click-throughs, and some print-outs

have no idea have this rates with other first time pr beginnings, especially as relates to my own field, the arts, but at $19 a release, with tags, links, and some stats, i’m not ready to complain :-)

thank you barbara, i’ll take a great start over a putter-put konked-out in the digital mud any 24/7 day :-)

one of your advice items, 7 things to do in a pr?, was if there was too much info for one release, then just do another; so that’s why there’ll be a sequence of pr’s for a few weeks, trying to lay out the components of art i participate in

so far, it seems like fun :-)

thought it might be a good time to give another update on my on-going “let’s do some on-line pr’s” experiment

bottom line up top: so far so good; pleased

still just using webwire’s entry level, or basic service, for $19

have only had one problem to speak of, which took a few days, and once i found out why & what, thought that was pretty darned good

kind of complicated, but webwire’s onsite stand alone page with one’s news release has, on the right hand side, all kinds of tools and buttons for emailing the release, signing up for a feed, or tagging it to various social networking sites (plus more of course :-)

on my third release, i think it was, all that info to the right of the body of the release didn’t show up til after the bottom of the body of the page

webwire sent me the screen shots where they finally pinpointed it to a problem with a specific browser version run a specific operating system, and found a fix on their end

i was impressed

anyway, still getting a handle on what may or may not constitute a good # of reads, click-throughs, etc; not sure when, but eventually i’ll give a brief recap of how i feel that’s going

will say, in finishing for now, i have a “very” wide range of topics on my site i want to pr (to use the verb :-) , and am being surprised at which topics catch on more quickly than others, and which seem to have delayed effects; very experimental on my end so far
